My Thanksgiving Day Meals

When I used to celebrate Thanksgiving with my dad, he'd go all out with Thanksgiving food since he liked to cook. My mom, on the other hand tries to avoid Thanksgiving & holidays in general as much as possible because she hates socializing and cooking. She also hates turkey. My bf, on the other hand is about as American as you can get. We went to Du  Par's for Thanksgiving lunch where we didn't have to cook.
Cranberry sauce. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not a big fan of it.
 Carrots
 yummy string beans
Mr. Turkey
Mr. Turkey cut up! It was so good. The meat was moist.
My favorite part was the marshmallow yams.
Their stuffing was good. They had a tater tot texture to them.
And for our dessert? A choice of pumpkin pie or apple pie. But why choose? I had both!

And for Thanksgiving dinner with my mother?
I had some bomb ass sashimi. I can't complain.

Pre-Thanksgiving Meal

Finding good asian food in the San Fernando Valley where I live is almost downright impossible. Getting to a decent Vietnamese restaurant takes at least 15 minutes of driving. It was to my surprise then that my friend found a tiny hole in the wall Japanese place that was pretty cheap and delicious! 1/2 off sushi all the time! They even have omakase for $35. Hello Tatsuki!
Look at their awesome tea cups! How can you not love this place?
 Tuna
 Fatty Tuna
Squid Roll. This was delicious. They cut the squid so thin that it wasn't chewy at all! Must order!
 Yellowtail belly
Firecracker Roll. There's some tempura inside the avocado. Delicious. It was fried really well.
Sweet shrimp. I love sweet shrimp. I like it more when they take the head and make it into a soup instead. I ate the brains and everything of course while my friends stared in horror. They were good sports for attempting to eat it though.

I've always driven past this place. I was so surprised by how fresh their sushi was! We only ordered off the 1/2 off menu. 3 people and the bill came out to around $48. Thanks for the treat from my besties. I'm so glad we found it because I'll definitely be going more often. They're not authentic of course like Sasabune, my favorite place but then again Sasabune is a place you can afford to go to about once a year. I am happy to report though that I bought some restaurant.com coupons for Sasabune and will be visiting them soon to use them! Tatsuki is at 21630 Ventura Blvd. Woodland HillsCA 91364.

Food Truck Grades

By now you know my love for chasing down food trucks. If you live in Los Angeles, then you know that food trucks will be getting grades just like the restaurants. Here's my video I made for class. They're already inspected twice a year and will now need to submit their routes in advance to the Health Department. Plus, when they are inspected, the trucks will not be able to do business for the day. I honestly don't care for the grades. If a place gets a C, I'd still be there!

World's Ugliest & Tastiest Fried Fish

Yup, the title is self explanatory. This fish looks like a tadpole mixed with an eel on steroids. Well, looks may be deceiving because this baby is freaking delicious. Salty... and delicious. Available at a delicious Laos/Vietnamese Market in Reseda, CA.

Hong Kong in L.A.

It's hard to find a really good Hong Kongese restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley since there are so many Taiwanese and Mainland Chinese restaurants that compete for the same patrons. Well... Mission Accomplished! I have finally found  a small, mom & pop shop that exemplifies Hong Kong.

Say hello to Delicious Food Corner! They open at 8 a.m. in the morning and serve deliciousness til the end of the night.
Are you drooling yet? Condensed milk on thick brick toast! Guppy's has nothing on this place. Yummy thick toast, not your typical wonder bread. It's triple the width!
 Yummy... condensed milk.....
Here was their delicious ginger chicken. Even their steamed rice tastes better than normal
And this is the most amazing minced pork  rice you will ever have. This is a party in your mouth. It's also big enough to feed a few people. Wow!
Even their string beans tasted super fresh! You could just taste it in each bite! I was impressed.

I also tried their Macau pork bread. Soooo good!!! They did a really good job on their bread. It's even better than the ones in Hong Kong and Macau. This place is also known for their milk tea. It's supposed to be really good. I can't wait to go back!!!! Their porridge is also their most famous item on their menu. I've tried it and it's definitely good HK style congee.  I'm in love!

2327 S Garfield Ave Monterey ParkCA 91754. See you there. By the way, the lines go out the door at this place. Get there early!
