My dessert last night. Go big or go home! A teddy bear brick toast with layers of ice cream, fruits, chocolate, and cookies scattered throughout the monstrosity! Can you hang?

Happy Eatings!
I'm a 95 lb stick- 102 on a good day (after a buffet), but I love food like no other. I spend about 3 months of the year in Asia. When I'm not in Asia scouring the streets for good food, I'm checking out the best places to eat in L.A.. Do street vendors or C ratings from restaurants scare me? Course not-cause the best food is cheap, made and sold on the street, & cooked by someone who hasn't washed their hands in ages...Delicious!

The Start of DineLA 2013!
Anyone that loves food, knows that eating well is quite an expensive hobby. Fortunately and unfortunately, Los Angeles is one of the most unique and dynamic cities for food. Luckily for us, twice a year, many restaurants participate in a two-week period known as DineLA.
For those unfamiliar, DineLA is when a number restaurants in L.A. have a special discount prixe fixe menu for patrons. The menu includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert. What makes DineLA great is that it allows foodies that normally wouldn’t eat at high-end resturant to experience a taste of their food without blowing their budget. Lunches are priced at $15, $20, and $25, and dinners at $25, $35, and $45.
Complimentary Meat Balls from the Waiting Room. For me, Lawry’s Prime rib is the best DineLA deal. Typically at Lawry’s, the cheapest prime rib is approximately $40. Everything is a la carte-sides, dessert, etc. If you add in a drink, a side order, and dessert your typical cost would be about $70.
The Lawry’s DineLA meal is $45 and includes complimentary bread, salad, 8 ounce prime rib, lobster tail, and dessert! What a steal!
Lawry’s famous spinning bowl salad.
Here is the bulk of my dinner. You have the prime rib, the Yorkshire Pudding, and the lobster tail!
English Trifle for dessert!
DineLA runs from January 21 to February 1st. You can find the entire list of restaurants participating here. I’ll probably be going to a few more DineLA resturants before it ends.
Do you have a favorite? Have you been taking advantage of the deals?

Hong Kong Continued...
I think this will be the last or next to last Hong Kong post for now. I've been back from HK for quite some time now. Actually, I'm in Boston on Auntie duty. =) So here we go!
Happy Eatings!
Che Kee in Causeway Bay has a Michelin Star. In recent years, they've been included in all the guidebooks so it's been increasingly annoying to go with some many tourists making the line extra long to get seated. What's awesome about CK is that their prices are on the low end compared to the usual prices for Michelin Star restaurants. If you want a taste of real, authentic Cantonese food-this is it. The location is also great. It's right across from Times Square, close to a Ladies' Market for shopping, and close to lots of street food.
Their straight forward lunch menu
Can you spy the mini oysters in the spicy sauce? These are deep fried fish balls. The sauce was amazing.
Dumplings and soup filled with MSG. It's the food of champions!
Egg waffles! This has Hong Kong written al over it! But what makes it better than usual? You see, instead of the regular vanilla flavor this one is called the ying yang. Half chocolate and half vanilla! I loved it! I've had all the flavors there are to offer, but to have 2 flavors in one is AMAZING!!!
And just for kicks, here's a turtle bread my mom thought was cute. The chocolate eyes melted off in the humidity before I got home. Usually my rule of thumb is never buy anything that is too cute, but since the turtle's shell was made up of a pineapple bun I decided to humor my mom and buy it for her.
And of course, I was right. Bleh. Not impressive! It was also $6 US for that puny thing!
Happy Eatings!
